L urking beneath the historic events of the past several weeks, whichthemselves may have the ability to alter the U.S. political landscape in ways that could reverberate for years, is the push-pull in a divided Washington between the enduring strength of populists on the right and the growing strength of progressives on the left. The historic events that gripped Washington during the month of January were, of course, the storming of the Capitol by Trump loyalists on January 6; the House of Representatives January 13 impeachment of President Trump, making him the first president in American history to be impeached twice; and the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States on January 20. However, what may be of more concern to business than thetime, although President Biden is considered a moderate, the singular events of January, is the coming tug-of-war betweenDemocratic Partys platform is the most left leaning in its the growing ranks of populist viewpoints in the Republicanhistory. It is under this shadow of the potential for continued Party and the increasing ranks of progressive-socialist view- political upheaval over the near-term and an ever increasingly points in the Democratic Party.
