b'F R O M T H E E D I T O R SDear Visions Readers:Our cover for the summer 2020 issue of Visions shows the point of view of a traveler, looking toward a bright sky on the horizon. We find this to be an appropriate metaphor for the current pathof Sumitomo Corporation of Americas. The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the world, presentingtremendous challenges to our personal lives, employees and businesses across North and South America. But true to our Sumitomo spirit, weve rallied, realigned and resumed our trek forward, knowing thattodays work brings us closer to tomorrows success, and a brighter future for all.In this issue, we spotlight our invested companies that are assisting autonomous workflows that canaddress non-contact necessities and workforce challenges in the wake of COVID-19. In addition, ourinvestment in additive manufacturing is helping aviation become greener and more efficient, contributing broadly to society, a longtime Sumitomo value. Also, youll read about how our projects received awards, our companies added advisors, and SC Americas continued to progress in this unique time in our history. We covered investments that reflect CSR earlier; here we show how we help our communities in time ofneed. We are very proud to spotlight our efforts in assisting charitable programs and initiatives that address COVID-19s effects at the local level. We are also proud to report that SCOA Foundation, SCOAs charitable vehicle to manage its corporatephilanthropic activities, made a $25,000 monetary gift to the Greater New York Hospital Association to support those serving on the front lines of this public health crisis in New York City. Also, SCOA Foundation also offered a matching gift campaign that allowed all SC Americas employees who wish to make financial contributions up to $2,000 per employee to selected not-for-profit organizations responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
