This event represented the thirty-third annual Green & Clean spring cleanup at the park. For many years I have seen this event referenced in our local town papers but never seized the opportunity to join in. This year, SCOAs announcement of a plan to encourage employees to volunteer in our local communities prompted me to think this would be the perfect year to participate. I signed up and shared the information with a few of my SCOA colleagues who also lived in my neighborhood while asking them to pass the word along to others. Todds Point is a special place. For the 23 years I have lived in Connecticut, my family has accumulated many fond memories of our times at this beach. Thankfully, I have also had the pleasure to enjoy this park with many of my colleagues at SCOA who have joined me at this park for long walks or summer BBQ parties. Reflecting on my years of enjoyment, I felt a sense of responsibility to give back to our community by helping to maintain this wonderful place. Everyone who joined the cleanup wore masks due to COVID 19 while using buckets to search for trash in the park. I joined a shift from 1:30 pm until 3:00 pm, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. While my contribution was relatively small by collecting one large bucket of trash 2 100SEED Special Insert to InterfaceJune 2021 (Continued)'
